Intricate details of a baur (baul in tagalog). The white part are sea shells called tipay in Maranao. Made by the people of Tugaya, Lanao del Sur. I always wanted one. Now I have one :-)

The Immaculate Conception Metropolitan Cathedral in Roxas City built in 1954. Beautiful church. I just wished they retained the original color.

ROTTEN APPLE

Ano daw? I saw these two guys browsing the net in a coffee shop in Tagaytay. Look closely on the laptop they are using. I know that Apple computers now have Intel processors but I didn't know it was that easy to convert a Windows computer to a Mac. These guys probably think they are hip and in after putting an apple sticker to their laptop. Duh!?

PATIKUL, SULU

Ito ang Baranggay Bonbon Patikul, Sulu. Ibang iba sa imahe na pumapasok sa isip natin sa tuwing naririnig ang lugar ng Jolo, Patikul, Panamao, Basilan at ibang bayan ng Sulu. Di ko kayo masisisi. Dito pinatay si Gene Boyd Lumawag, isang photojournalist. Dito naganap ang maraming pangingidnap ng mga bandidong Abu Sayaff. Dito kamakailan hinostage ng MNLF ang ilang opisyal ng gobyerno upang higit na mapabilis ang usapang pangkapayapaan.

Matagal na ang gyera dito. Di pa ako pinapanganak andito na ito. Laban ng Pilipino sa kapwa Pilipino. Subalit sa karamihan ng mga taong nakasalamuha ko rito, isa lang ang naisin nila. Sawa na sila sa gyera. Baka maaaring pagbigyan naman ang kapayapaan.

Sabi nga ng isang Marines na nakausap ko, "We're not winning the war here... We're winning the peace."

Dapat balikan ang Sulu. Para maipakita sa iba na maganda rito. Na may pag-asa pa. Na darating ang panahon na lahat ay mamumuhay na ng payapa.

REMEMBERING THE DEAD

There was a report in the news tonight of people who can't seem to find the location of their dead relatives in the cemetery. It's been years since they last visited the cemetery and now they find the tomb of strangers.

I pity them. Not the living but those who passed away. If the living relatives visited them often then they won't have a hard time looking for their loved one's tombs.

But again maybe we are all doing ourselves a favor. Moving on and putting the past behind.

I guess the important thing is we remember our loved ones inside our hearts. We remember them everyday. We remember them not on their death but on how they lived. How they influenced and touched our lives.

Me? I'll be happy if I'll be able to influence even just a single person into making him/her a better human being.
